| The 40x Celestron #4020 junior dissecting and nature study microscope is surprisingly good performer at a surprisingly small price. The #4020 has a 45° inclined monocular head that can be rotated 360° to the best viewing position. You can work in comfort for long periods when you view at a 45° viewing angle, rather than looking straight down into a vertical or nearly vertical eyepiece. If you need good quality views of small objects – for dissecting or just enjoying visually – it’s hard to beat this microscope for sheer value for the dollar. - Illumination: There is no built-in artificial illumination. The object being studied must be illuminated from overhead or off to the side by the light of a nearby desk or table lamp. Natural daylight can also be used if the microscope is located near a window.
- Stage: The stage has a circular 60mm (2.4”) reversible black/white solid stage plate to provide two contrast options. Dual slide holder clips are provided.
- Supplied eyepiece: A 10x eyepiece is supplied.
- Supplied objective: A 4x objective is standard.

- Nosepiece: The objective lens has a 58mm working distance. The objective lens can be raised and lowered on its pillar to maintain the correct working distance while accommodating specimens of varying thickness.
