For 35mm Canon single lens reflex cameras only (except EOS autofocus models – for EOS cameras, see part #81CAE). This is for those Canon cameras that use a breechlock lens mount. These have a knurled rotary collar around the base of the lens that must be tightened separately to lock the lens in place. This is not for EOS-type cameras whose lenses click into place with a quarter turn of the entire lens and which use a button on the camera body to release the lens when you want to change it. Needed to connect your 35mm camera body to a T-adapter or camera adapter for prime focus photography (full disc solar/lunar photography and terrestrial photography); to a tele-extender or camera adapter for eyepiece projection photography (planetary photography and close-up shots of the Moon); and to an off-axis guider for long exposure deep space photography.
