| The sky’s the limit with this portable and easy to use 80mm tabletop reflector telescope. This easy-to-use scope is a perfect first telescope for youngsters and families. Its good-sized 80mm (3.1”) aperture allows users to explore the craters on the moon, marvel at rings of Saturn, and see star clusters and the brighter nebulas and galaxies outside our solar system. The built-in image erecting lens lets you use it as a land-based spotting scope to view the wonders of nature in your own neighborhood close up and personal. And best of all, with a built-in carrying strap and weighing only 5 lbs, you can take this scope anywhere your feet can take you! The ExploraScope is packed with cool features that make it easy and fun to use. You can use your ExploraScope on the included swivel base, hold its smooth ball-shaped body on your lap, or mount it on a photo tripod with the included adapter to observe your world. This durable scope comes with a protective dust cap and carrying strap that make it the perfect companion for hiking and backpacking.
This Telescope’s Optical System . . . - Reflector optics: 80mm (3.1”) aperture Newtonian reflector. 550mm focal length f/6.9 all-glass optics. No plastic mirrors. It has 78% brighter images than a 60mm telescope so you can see faint objects more easily. The optics can be collimated (aligned) easily to get the sharpest images. This feature is a rarity in telescopes in this price range.
- Focuser: The rotary focuser is a knurled rubber collar under the eyepiece that is easy to operate with either hand, even while wearing gloves or mittens in cold weather.
- 44x eyepiece: You get a medium power 12.5mm (44x) eyepiece with a 1° field of view, twice the diameter of the full Moon. The eyepiece has antireflection coatings on its lens surfaces for sharp images and very good contrast. Inexpensive optional eyepiece are available to give you both higher (92x) and lower (22x) magnifications to expand your viewing possibilities.
- Built-in image erector: There’s a built-in image erector in the focuser that gives upright and correctly-oriented images (printing is correctly oriented and readable, for example). This makes it easy to use the scope for terrestrial nature observing, as well as showing you the sky the way it looks on star charts.
This Telescope’s Mount . . . - Altazimuth mount: The durable 14” long ball-shaped molded telescope body sits in a tabletop tripod base that allows fingertip swivel control of the scope’s motion in any direction. This is suitable for casual astronomical observing, and will let you easily track objects on the ground to allow you to get a closer look at nature and your surroundings.
- Tripod base: The lightweight tripod base can sit on a tabletop for convenient seated observations. If there’s no table or suitable flat surface available, an adapter is included that lets you use the telescope on a camera tripod for stand-up observing.
- Two year warranty: As an expression of Celestron’s confidence in the quality of their products, the Explorascope is protected by Celestron’s two-year limited warranty against flaws in materials and workmanship.
